The Marshall County Board of Supervisors voted to not close a part of Underwood Avenue in Marshall County in the area of Merle Hibbs Boulevard and U-S Highway 30. The no vote was unanimous 3-0. It had been requested that about a half mile stretch of the road be closed, however there turned out to be more in favor of the non closure than the closure. Supervisor Bill Patten says he changed his mind on the issue after comments from the public were taken at a Public Hearing and written comments were received as well. In other news from the Supervisors, they decided to approve a request for the use of 330th Street for an 11 and three quarter kilometer road race on October 29th. Organizer Missy Sharer Peiters told the Supervisors the event would benefit the cause of treatment for pediatric cancer. She says the race would consist of three person relay teams between Gilman and Laurel during an event called Laurel Ween that weekend. More news Kelly Gerke was hired as a Community Services Assistant for Marshall County, a hire that was caused by a retirement. Also the county honored Christine Kelly who has served the County Sheriff`s office for 20 years.
