Thursday is day one of the State Fair in Des Moines. The Fair Parade was Wednesday night as it made its way west from the state capital through downtown Des Moines. Among the participants was Marshall County Fair Queen Megan Pansegrau who along with 101 other young women are contending to be named the Iowa State Fair Queen. The Queen candidates will be introduced on the Knapp Stage this afternoon and also will take part in a scavenger hunt on the fairgrounds as well. There are 40 4-Hers representing Marshall County at the Fair, 15 livestock projects and another 25 in other categories. They had a bit of rain at the fairgrounds Wednesday afternoon. KIX 101.1 is well represented at the fair with a broadcast structure located near the area called the Triangle on the fairgrounds, we will be there each day of the fair.
