After tomorrow night, there will be one more “field of dreams” in Iowa…and it’ll be right here in Marshalltown.
The Marshalltown South 6th Street Softball Complex will receive the Chicago 16-inch Softball hall Of Fame award tomorrow evening. This is the first time a complex outside of Chicago has been honored. Joe Cordt of the Softball League says it all began with a local player, Tim Walker, who began asking the right questions about the honor.
Cordt says the 16-inch leagues have declined in numbers in recent years, but is coming back, with the South 6th Street Complex having the most league teams in the state of Iowa.
