Boys Golf
Grundy Center senior Jake Bangasser won meet medalist honors for the fourth time in as many outings, leading the Spartan boys’ golf team to a third-place finish on Monday at Aplington-Parkersburg’s Falcon Invitational.
Dike-New Hartford won the Aplington-Parkersburg Falcon Invitational with a 158 total. Grundy Center and Denver tied for 2nd, but Denver won the tie-breaker to take runners-up honors.
The GMG defeated Baxter on Monday at Twin Anchors Golf Club, 163-229.
The East Marshall boys finished second with a team score of 199, behind winner BGM with a 193 and ahead of English Valleys with a 208.
Girls Golf
East Marshall Mustangs also finished second, though just one shot behind BGM, 210-211.
Waukee was the champ, hosts Ames third, Marshalltown finished fifth at the Turk Bowman Invite in Ames.
Gilbert over North Polk 180 to 213.
