A man is dead after exchanging gunfire with an  Iowa State Trooper yesterday in Webster County.

The trooper encountered a couple in the midst of a dispute in rural Moorland. The victim fired at the trooper and several rounds were exchanged. The initial investigation stated the man had fired several shots into his vehicle before the trooper arrived.

The trooper was not injured in the incident. The name of the victim has not yet been released.
