While springtime means the post-winter world comes to life, some things may be better left undisturbed. Like ticks. Ticks are most active this time of the year and that means that Lyme disease also rears its head as well.

Two instructors at St. Francis School in Marshalltown, have organized a fund raiser for victims and research for the disease this Thursday evening. Monica Kruse  says she never saw the typical target bite mark of a tick, so she’s not sure how long she has had Lyme disease, but it certainly makes her tired.

The fundraiser “Shedding Light on Lyme Disease” will run from six to 7:30 Thursday night at St. Francis. A mea, silent auction and entertainment will all be part of the event.
