Like many other states, the condition of bridges across Iowa continues to be a concern, TO try and address the issue, the five-year transportation program includes one billion dollars for ongoing maintenance and improvements to bridges.

The other good news is that the number of bridges statewide that are considered deficient has decreased.

The bad news, according to anderson, is that there are a number of bridges that will need replacement over the next five to ten years.
