It’s kinda like a bad cliché; there’s never a first aid kit when you need it, or there’s never any supplies in the kit when you do find it. To help with some of those issues, Marshall County Emergency Management is working with EMS and Public health, with a grant from the state to purchase Stop The Bleed kits for all county school buildings. Kim Elder says these kits will help if you find yourself in a situation where applying direct pressure just does not stop the flow of blood.
Elder says each kit contains eight sets of supplies, so it’s not like they are one and done options. Teachers and older kids will be trained on using the kits, which will be placed in spots where the general public can use them, just like AED’s.
