A welding project turned into another project for Marshalltown Fire yesterday afternoon.

Crews were called to the 700 block Noble Street for a garage fire just before 5:00. Sparks from the welding set off some nearby combustibles and the subsequent fire burned down the garage, while also causing damage to three neighboring garages.

No injuries were reported, estimated damage put at $20,000.
