The Marshalltown City Council voted unanimously last night to deny a proposal by Parks of Iowa to build a hog transfer station on the City’s northeast side. Citizen reaction has been overwhelmingly negative since the proposal first was discussed at a planning and Zoning commission meeting.
The City Council also followed the Planning and Zoning recommendations on a special use request for the U-Haul facility in the former K-Mart location.
U-Haul requested that special use to display some storage buildings near Center Street. The Council agreed to support the P&Z’s recommendation to deny that use by a 5 to 1 vote.
