It’s a crowded field for the At-Large position of the Marshalltown City Council. Five individuals filed prior to yesterday’s deadline; James Walker, Mark Eaton, Dex Walker, Bruce McConnell, and Gary Thompson. The quintet will vie to replace outgoing At-Large Councilor Leon Lamer on the Council.
Incumbent Gabe Isom will be out to retain his 2nd Ward Council seat versus challenger Tyler Johnson. Incumbent Al Hoop is running unopposed for the 4th Ward seat.
Five candidates have filed for four seats on the Marshalltown school board.
Incumbents Nicholas Aguirre and Sean Heitmann will try to keep their board seats. Also filing by the deadline were Sara Faltys, Jan McGinnis and Bob Unteidt. Current board members Janelle Carter and Ben Fletcher both decided not to run for re-election.
