The Marshalltown City Council last night spent some time debating which projects should move forward with the help of borrowing money and after lengthy discussion deemed the topic worth of a special meeting. The City is looking at ten projects with a cost of nearly 11 million dollars. However, as policy stands now, the City could only borrow enough for 8.4 million in general obligation bonds. A motion by Councilor Sue Cahill to increase the amount the Council could borrow was voted down. The Council will meet in special session next Monday night to make decisions which projects may or may not be funded.
