An Aplington man is dead after he was hit by a car in the parking lot of the Grundy Center Casey’s.

Anthony Guyer was struck as a vehicle driven by Jean Newton of Grundy Center was backing out of a parking spot, accelerated and pinned Guyer between the vehicle and a trailer attached to Guyer’s work vehicle. Guyer was taken to Grundy Center Memorial Hospital and later life-flighted to Iowa City where he died.

The accident remains under investigation.
