The northwest part of Iowa is bracing for a potentially major snowstorm that could begin as early as today. Locations along the Missouri River could see as much as nine inches of snow.

A $20,000 grant from the Community Foundation of Marshall County is going to the Central Iowa Fair Board. The board plans to renovate the Activity Building at the Fairgrounds, which was originally built in the 1960s.

The Alliant Energy Foundation has awarded grants to three organizations in Marshalltown. Child Abuse Prevention Services will receive $1,000, and the Marshalltown Community School District and Mid Iowa Community Action each receive $1,500 grants.

Six students from the Marshalltown Community School District participated in the 73d annual All-State Music Festival. The concert from the festival can be seen Thanksgiving night at 7 o’clock on Iowa Public Television.
