On Wednesday, March 25, 2020, at approximately 9:20 p.m., the Marshalltown Police Department responded with Unity Point Ambulance and the Marshalltown Fire Department to the 400 block of Union Street after receiving

reports of a shooting incident at this location. Upon arrival, officers found a male victim (age 22) suffering from gunshot wounds. This victim was critically injured and died on scene. A second male (age 27) was also found on scene with gunshot injuries. The second victim was transported to Unity Point Hospital in Marshalltown for treatment. The names of the victims are being withheld pending family notifications.

The investigation of this incident is ongoing. The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation is assisting with this investigation. No arrests have been made. Also assisting with this investigation are the Marshall County Attorney’s Office, the Iowa State Patrol and the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office.
