Bindi Irwin, the late Steve Irwin’s 21-year-old daughter, married Chandler Powell at Australia Zoo on Wednesday. In a post on her Instagram, she highlighted how they had it with no guests at their ceremony due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We held a small ceremony and I married my best friend,” she wrote on Instagram alongside a photo from the small wedding. “We’ve planned this beautiful day for nearly a year and had to change everything, as we didn’t have guests at our wedding. This was a very difficult decision but important to keep everyone safe. … Mum helped me get ready, Robert walked me down the aisle. Chandler became my husband and together we lit a candle in Dad’s memory.” She also made sure to mention that her and her family live at Australia Zoo, which is currently closed to the public. “To everyone reading this – stay safe, social distance and remember LOVE WINS!”
The wedding happened hours before Australia’s strict social distancing guidelines went into effect, in which weddings are only allowed to go ahead with a maximum attendance of no more than five individuals.
