Today very well could be the day fans of the Marshalltown County Courthouse have been waiting for; Dome Pick day.
If the weather goes as planned, the new dome will be craned to the top of the Courthouse at or after 12:30 tomorrow. County Auditor Nan Benson says the one variable will be the wind speed, which if it is blowing at 15 miles an hour or more, may keep the dome grounded.
It will only be the dome that will be lifted into place. Benson says the spire will go up once the dome is attached…and then ready for the spire, so this will be twin-bill of sorts by the time both the dome and spire are in place.
