Last week, some area businesses began talking about a giveaway of masks to folks around the Marshalltown area. Boy, did they ever. Roughly 700, cloth, reusable masks were handed out free of charge in just over half an hour Saturday morning. Smokin’ G’s BBQ took on the distribution task Saturday. Owner Kim Gratopp says the folks at the Raymon Company in Albion came up with the idea.

Sign Creations, the City of Marshalltown along with 1230 KFJB and KIX 101.1 added support for the project.

Not only were 700 masks given out, but there were also plenty of other folks who were disappointed that the supply ran out. The plans, for now, is to stage another giveaway this Saturday. Keep listening for more details as the week goes along.
