The largest long-term care facility in the state is the Iowa Veteran’s Home. It’s been over a month since the facility in Marshalltown began putting procedures in place to protect its roughly 500 residents and 900 staff. Commandant Timon Oujiri says each of the five buildings that house veterans are now staffed as if each was a separate nursing home and the residents and staff are assigned to that building only.

Oujiri (O-Jury) says one way that they are using technology to help keep the residents healthy is by the physicians using telehealth between them and the residents.

Only three cases of Covid-19 have been confirmed at IVH, all three were staff members and both are slated to be able to return to work next week. 34 residents have tested negative with two more tests pending.
