Police in Iowa City used flashbangs and tear gas in an attempt to end a demonstration along Dubuque Street near I-80 last night.
According to KCRG-TV, protesters and law enforcement went through a series of confrontations before the protesters left the area just before midnight. There were not any reports of physical confrontations.
In Des Moines, several hundred protestors marched to the home of Mayor Frank Cownie. Cownie stepped outside to talk with the protestors, who handed him a list of demands. Cownie thanked the group for protesting in a peaceful manner.
In Waterloo, several hundred protestors gathered at City Hall late last evening and kneeled with officials, including Black Hawk County Sheriff Tony Thompson.
