What some had feared might happen was confirmed yesterday by JCPenney…It’s Marshalltown Mall location is among 154 stores the chain will close as part of its plan to emerge from bankruptcy.

The store will close later this summer, with sales beginning next Friday.

JCPenney actually began on Marshalltownon West Main Street. The store was relocated to the mall back in the mid-70’s.

One other location in Iowa, in Carroll, will also be shuttered by the company.
