The first grants from the new Marshall County Disaster Fund have been handed out by the Community Foundation of Marshall County. One grant is heading to the Marshalltown Area Chamber of Commerce to spread out some mini-grants to assist small businesses with the cost of personal protective equipment.

Foundation Executive Director Julie Hitchins says another grant is going to Child Abuse Prevention services to help out families who have yet to receive any assistance during the pandemic. Hitchins says more grants will be awarded in the coming days.
