The help wanted sign is out for a new Police Chief in Ames.
Chuck Cychosz has announced his retirement after 18 years with the city, the past 13 of those as Chief of Police.
Cychosz has been associated with community policing, public education and mental health advocacy during his tenure. His last day in the position will be August 3rd.
City Manager Steve Schainker says he will be naming an interim chief in the next few weeks, while a national search will take place to find Cychosz’ successor.
