The Salvation Army will distribute food to those affected by the storms of Monday, August 10, 2020 beginning Friday, August 14 at 10am (closing time will be determined by provisions and will be announced). Anyone affected by the storm may receive food which will be distributed in the gymnasium at 107 West State Street. The Salvation Army asks individuals to enter through the south gymnasium entrance and exit on the northeast side of the building. Families will be given food that does not have to be cooked or requires refrigeration along with water. Masks and social distancing will be REQUIRED while in The Salvation Army building. The Salvation Army asks only one person per household to enter the building. No identification will be required for this distribution.
The Salvation Army will resume regular business as soon as power is restored.

AMES, Iowa – The City of Ames will be opening two Cooling Centers for residents to cool off if they are still without power. Masks and social distancing are required. The centers’ locations and open hours are as follows:
Community Center, 515 Clark Ave. Please enter through the gymnasium in the southwest corner of City Hall. Open hours:
o Thursday, August 13: Noon – 7 p.m.
o Friday, August 14: 8 a.m. – 7 p.m.
o Saturday, August 15: 8 a.m. – 7 p.m.
o Sunday, August 16: 8 a.m. – 7 p.m.
Chairs will be available for people to sit on while cooling off. Wifi is available. Outlets are available for charging devices, but people must bring their own cords.
