A Grinnell man has been charged with first-degree murder the death of a Grinnell man, whose body was found burning in a ditch last week near Kellogg. Steven Vogel is charged in the death of 44-year-old Michael Williams of Grinnell. Vogel and three others are also charged with abuse of a corpse in trying to get rid of the body.
Grinnell Police Chief Dennis Reilly reiterated that this was not a hate crime.
The three other people charged in the case are Julia Cox, Roy Lee Garner, Cody Johnson, all of Grinnell. All three are being held at the Poweshiek County jail.
