If you have been thinking about making plans to tour some of the fall colors in the state over the new few weeks, you may need to adjust the “normal” schedule.

One culprit is obviously the derecho, which has Marshall County Conservation Director Mike Stegmann and his folks busy trying to clear debris from county parks, some are open, some remain closed.

The DNR’s latest fall color map shows the leaves may be on verge of turning right now in the northern third of the state, with the first three weeks of October the target time in Central Iowa, with Southern Iowa colors peaking the second through the fourth week of October.
