COVID hospitalization rates have declined in recent days, but the C-E-O of the state’s largest hospital says you shouldn’t ease up on prevention measures. University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics C-E-O Suresh Gunasekaran says Iowa avoided the feared post-holiday increase, but adds the numbers need to continue going down.
Gunasekaran says there’s going to be an opportunity for a potential spike if people don’t stick to the guidelines during the Christmas holiday. The number of COVID patients in Iowa hospitals dropped to below one-thousand after hitting record highs of more than 15-hundred in mid-November.
