The Marshalltown City Council made it clear, it would continue to support the Fisher Community Center, even though derecho damage has left the building, for the moment, empty. The Council discussed whether it should continue the agreement to continue with the annual $100,000 annual payment to the facility to assist with its operations, even while plans to repair and renovate the center are in progress. The first of which is removal of asbestos, a $600,000 project itself according to Karn Gregorie of the Fisher Governor Foundation Board. Gregorie told the Council the center will be renovated, better than ever.

Options were presented to the Council regarding the possibility of halting payments while the structure was empty. The Council did not hesitate to state the payments should continue as scheduled.
