A battle of words over free speech erupted yesterday in the Iowa House, with Montour Republican Representative Dean Fisher in the middle.

It began when House Minority leader Todd Prichard called on the GOP to remove Fisher from his committee assignments over comments Fisher made regarding the assault on the US Capitol. Prichard criticized the Republican for comments made about guns and election security.

House Speaker Pat Grassley was the first to respond, with Fisher agreeing with the Speaker that Prichard is “playing partisan politics” adding I will not stop using my First Amendment right to free speech.
