While Governor Kim Reynolds lifted some of the restrictions for wearing face coverings in public, the debate is continuing. Marshalltown and Ames are just two of the jurisdictions that continue to mandate face coverings outdoors.
The Ames City Council in December voted to extend a mask mandate through June 30th and it is being backed by City Attorney Mark Lambert.
Marshalltown Mayor Joel Greer made it clear on a Facebook post over the weekend that he had no intention of ending his mask proclamation.
And the debate continues, not just between those who don’t want to wear a mask and those that do, but between the state and local governments.
