Next Tuesday, the folks in Marshalltown’s 1st Ward will have the chance to go to the polls and vote for their City Council representative for the remainder of the year. Sue Cahill, resigned at the end of the year after being elected to the Statehouse. The Council then appointed Raymond Starks to the seat, but voter petitions resulted in next week’s election between Starks and former City Councilor Mike Ladehoff.
Ladehoff, who says he is representative of the people in the 1st Ward, says, tongue in cheek, that he has recovered from his previous stint on the council and that the bruises “have healed”.
Ladehoff says in the week of the 2018 tornado, the City needs to continue to focus on the recovery of the first ward, including the downtown area.
