The Marshalltown Athletics Program is seeking to move away from the latest sports grouping as proposed by the state high school association.
Superintend Dr. Theron Schutte has sent a letter of intent to withdraw from the current CIML, citing the disparity of success between the suburban schools and non-suburban schools. Schutte says non-suburban schools have only accounted for 16.5 percent of the wins in the major sports over the past five years.
Ames, Mason City, Fort Dodge and Ottumwa are among the schools looking to form the new conference.
