The checks were being handed out right and left as the Community Foundation of Marshall County awarded its 2021 grants to 22 county non-profits last night. This year’s cycle named “The Great Marshall County Comeback”, the foundation granted 20-thousand dollars to the Friends of Riverside Cemetery to begin the repair of headstones damaged by last year’s derecho. Cemetery manager Dorrie Tammen is anxious to put those dollars to work.
A total of 85-thousand dollars was awarded, 68-thousand by the Foundation and 17-thousand by the student philanthropy groups at Marshalltown, East Marshall and West Marshall High Schools.
