A house fire kept crews from all three Ames fire stations busy yesterday morning in the 300 block of Topaz Court.

Crews arrived to find smoke coming out of the roof and a fire that had extended into the walls and joists of the residence.

A malfunctioning furnace was deemed to be the cause of the fire. Damage was estimated at $100-thousand dollars. No injuries were reported.
