An off-duty Ames police officer has been charged with multiple traffic offenses and OWI first offense after leading police on a chase while going the wrong way on a highway and being clocked at 131 miles per hour.
Jason Eaton was on Highway 30 Monday night east of Nevada, going the wrong way. Eaton finally stopped after speeding up i-35 to the 190th Street exit.
Multiple empty alcohol containers were found in Eaton’s car. He has been placed on paid administrative leave by the Ames Police Department.
