Eric Avila roared to the lead with just over 300 meters remaining to win the men’s division at the  U-S Track and Field 1 Mile Road Championship in Des Moines. His winning time was 3:58.96 seconds.

Former Georgetown standout Rachel Schneider jumped out to an early lead and won the women’s division. Her winning time was 4:30.26 seconds.
