Marshalltown Mayor Joel Greer announced the lifting of the mask mandate yesterday, while “strongly encouraging” those who have not been vaccinated to get the shot. Greer also encourages residents to continue to follow CDC guidelines when it comes to social distancing, hand washing and the wearing of a mask.

The boards for the Marshalltown and Ames School Districts along with St. Francis Catholic school have decided to keep the covid mitigation policies in place until the end of the school year.

A total of 170 new positive cases added to the state’s COVID-19 website since midday yesterday. The to-date count still shy of 400-thousand. Story County had 10 new positives, Grundy County 3 and Marshall and Poweshiek counties 2 each.
