The Ames 4×400 girls relay team captured the state crown at the 4A meet Saturday in Des Moines, while Ames Aniey Anok won the 4a title in the 800.
But for many others, it was a weekend of…oh so close… Marshalltown’s Deonte Dean had to settle for runner up in the 200-meter dash and came in 5th in the 100.
BCLUW’s Lizzie Garber earned 2nd in the 1A 100 hurdles, while South Tama’s JoJo Tyynismaa also was runner up in the 3a 100 meters.
