A week after being convicted of first degree murder in the 2018 killing of Mollie Tibbetts, attorneys for Cristhian Bahena Rivera filed a motion for a mistrial…a motion that was denied by Judge Joel Yates. Bahena Rivera is scheduled to be sentenced on July 15th. The conviction carries a mandatory sentence of life in prison without parole.
