Most everyone likes to know when they’ve made a positive impact. For those involved with the MPATC, Marshalltown Police and Community Team, you talk to the folks who have stepped up to be a part of this pilot program. It has embedded a pair of social workers with the Marshalltown PD through YSS of Marshall County. Executive Director David Hicks says four months into the program police officers are indicating the program should continue.

The human service providers are called on when police respond to a call regarding non-criminal issues. So far, Hicks, says police and advocates have responded to 91 calls and have resulted in services to 162 people.
