As many as 20 properties, mainly commercial, were evacuated last night after a train derailed yesterday afternoon in Ames. One of the cars was leaking some hazardous material, requiring the evacuations. All of the railroad crossings that were blocked due to the derailment were re-opened by last night. Crews continue to clean up the derailment. No one was injured.
