Just over a month after beginning her new job, Brenda Nelson has left her job as the Ames City Assessor.

Nelson was selected for the post over Boone County Assessor Paul Overton. Nelson had been the Cass County city assessor for two decades. The Ames Tribune reports that in a newsletter of the State Association of Assessors, Nelson said she was moving to Omaha to be with her fiancé.
