The Marshall County Public Health Department is urging folks to either get vaccinated or wear masks to help mitigate the spread of the rona. It says in Marshall County only 57 and a half percent ore residents are vaccinated between the age of 18 and 65, while 32 percent between the ages of 12 and 18 have been jabbed.
The Health Department notes that masking will prevent the spread of the virus to the unvaccinated.
Iowa City jumped into the middle of the mandatory mask fray, as Mayor Bruce Teague says he is declaring a civil emergency and a mask mandate is now in effect. A spokesperson for Governor Reynolds says Teague’s move is against the law and not enforceable. The civil emergency also includes buildings on the UofI campus. The mandate applies to people and not buildings.
