The Iowa Department of Corrections has paused a new policy requiring legal mail sent to inmates to first be photocopied as mail has been found that’s been soaked in drugs. The inmates then eat or smoke the mail to ingest the drugs.

A Corrections Department spokesperson says the photocopying rule was being “paused for further review.”
