Today is First Generation College Students Day, a day to recognize those students who are the first in their immediate family to attend classes after high school. Nate Chua is Dean of Students and Learning Services at Marshalltown Community College. He says first-generation students are not limited to any specific demographic background.

Chua says the outreach program isn’t just limited to the classroom, it also is important on the social side of college as well, to help students gain that full college experience.
