That situation that resulted in school being delayed at Anson Elementary and the Marshalltown Learning Academy on Tuesday has landed a man in jail.
Marshalltown Police responded to a welfare check in the 900 block of South 3rd Avenue around 2:30 that morning. The man, identified as Daniel Maggard would not communicate with officers and threatened to shoot police. Maggard was taken into custody around six Tuesday morning, too late to rescind the school delays in the area. Maggard has been charged with a Felony assault on a Police Officer while displaying a dangerous weapon and three assorted misdemeanors.
