What a day for state football championships yesterday in Cedar Falls. CAM Anita won its first state title with a 42-40 win over Easton Valley in the 8-player finals.

Grundy Center’s third straight trip to the finals ended up short like the previous two, as West Hancock held off the Spartans 29-14.

In 1a, Van Meter kicker Katie Lindsay became the first girl to record points in a state title game as Van meter downed West Sioux 17-14.

and to top it off, Council Bluffs Lewis Central needed three overtimes…and darkness when the lights went out for a while in the UNI-Dome, to down Xavier for the 4A title 32-24.

The 2a, 3A and 5A champions will be determined today in the Dome.
