THE IOWA DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN SERVICES HAS ANNOUNCED THE APPOINTMENT OF JASON SODDERS TO SERVE AS SUPERINTENDENT OF THE BOYS STATE TRAINING SCHOOL IN ELDORA.
PRIOR TO ASSUMING HIS NEW POSITION, SODDERS SERVED AS DEPUTY AND INTERIM SUPERINTENDENT FOR THE SCHOOL. SODDERS BEGAN WORKING FOR B-S-T-S IN 2000 AS A YOUTH SERVICES WORKER. HE WAS PROMOTED TO COUNSELOR IN 2014 AND TO SECURITY DIRECTOR IN 2018. IN 2020, SODDERS WAS APPOINTED DEPUTY SUPERINTENDENT BEFORE BEING NAMED AS INTERIM SUPERINTENDENT IN 2021.
SODDERS HOLDS A BACHELORS DEGREE IN PSYCHOLOGY WITH MINORS IN SOCIOLOGY AND CRIMINAL JUSTICE FROM UPPER IOWA UNIVERSITY.
THE BOYS STATE TRAINING SCHOOL OPENED IN 1873 AND PROVIDES INDIVIDUALIZED TREATMENT, REHABILITATION, AND EDUCATION PROGRAMS FOR YOUNG MEN 12 TO 18 YEARS OLD WHO HAVE BEEN ADJUDICATED DELINQUENT.
