AT A SPECIAL MEETING TUESDAY, THE MARSHALL COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS BY UNANIMOUS MARGIN VOTED TO RESCIND ITS PREVIOUSLY ENACTED VACCINE TESTING POLICY INVOLVING COUNTY EMPLOYEES.
THE MOVE COMES AFTER IOWA LABOR COMMISSIONER ROD ROBERTS RECENTLY ANNOUNCED THAT THE STATE WOULD NOT ENFORCE THE BIDEN ADMINISTRATION’S VACCINE OR TESTING MANDATE FOR EMPLOYERS WITH 100 OR MORE WORKERS.
DURING TUESDAY’S MEETING, IT WAS NOTED THAT THE ONLY REASON THE MANDATE WAS APPROVED INITIALLY WAS BECAUSE THE COUNTY HAD CONCERNS ABOUT BEING FINED FOR NOT BEING IN COMPLIANCE.
THE UNITED STATES SUPREME COURT IS TRYING TO BETTER DETERMINE WHETHER THE MANDATE, WHICH WOULD REQUIRE FOR EMPLOYEES TO PROVE THAT THEY HAVE BEEN VACCINATED AGAINST COVID-19 OR SUBMIT TO WEEKLY TESTING AND WEAR MASKS WHILE AT WORK, IS ACTUALLY LEGAL.
