At Monday’s meeting, the Marshalltown School Board was brought up to date on certain issues the district currently faces with its overall budget process.
Paulette Newbold, Director of Business Operations for the Marshalltown School District, provided a general overview of the district’s current budget situation, as well as what lies ahead for the district in light of the 2.5 percent increase in supplemental state aid that was formally approved by Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds last week.
Newbold informed the board that a certified budget needs to be put together for a public tax hearing at its regular meeting on April 4th. A line-item budget would be formulated later based on the initial budgeting process.
The board also heard a presentation from some students from Lenihan Elementary School, led by their instructor Vanessa Engel regarding their first Lego League Competition.
The board also heard a presentation from Child Abuse Services, and from Human Resources Director Nora Ryan on staff demographics.
